[worldcarfans: American] Fiat and Chrysler in partnership talks - worldcarfans: While it is unclear what specifics are being discussed, Fiat would most likely be interested in gaining access to Chrysler's dealer network and production capacity, something Chrysler currently has too much. Fiat's CEO Sergio Marchionne had previously stated that he wanted to bring the Fiat 500 to the United States but would only consider doing so if it could be produced locally.

[Autoblog] Chrysler supposedly in 'chaos', suppliers could demand COD - Autoblog: The report cites three sources with knowledge of Chrysler's supplier dealings as saying that suppliers are nervous about bankruptcy, and as a result may beginning to ask for cash on hand in return for parts. A Chrysler spokesperson called the 'chaos' term unwarranted, and said that the loss of jobs will help the company to "continue the transformation of our company." Mega-supplier Borg Warner, for one, told Automotive News that all of the Detroit automakers are currently paying their bills on time, and there have been no reports of Chrysler not paying any large suppliers.

[AutoblogGreen] Chrysler's bipartisan bailout "partnership for technology ...: As Chrysler is now owned by Cerebus Capital Management, a financial investment firm, It makes me suspect that they'd like to get a low interest loan from the government, then use that money to make higher yield (and potentially risky) investments, instead of bothering to upgrade production at Chrysler. If Cerebus ever figures that it would be more profitable to liquidate Chrysler than to keep it going, that is exactly what they'll do.

[Autoblog] Porsche raises stake in VW to 50% - Autoblog: I agree, the Sixteen would have been a direct competitor to RR, Bentley, Maybach...maybe. And what they would've learned from producing the Sixteen may have spawned a true S-class competitor within the lineup.

The General said that whenever the time comes, a replacement will be found, but come on -- a guy called "Maximum Bob" will probably be difficult to replace.

Still, if anyone was curious whether Americans could embrace a truly small vehicle or not, I think we have the answer.

[Autoblog] Get ready for mileage to drop: new EPA rating system unveiled ...: Hondafan, i hate lawyers, but you do make an interesting point, manufacturers KNEW that the numbers EPA provided were false, and they actively lobied the government not to change them. In other words, say we have a pill that all(all cars get below EPA) people in USA say gives them diaria, but drug companies lobby FDA to say that the pill infact does not cause diaria....

[drive blog] drive blog: The 2009 Detroit show was electric ... literally: But just as GM leave Holden to do almost all of their RWD work these days [outside Cadillac, anyway] it's possible, likely even, that Ford have taken note and this cancellation indicates that they want to go the same way? Especially if you look at their ancient Mustang platform against the Commodore-based Camaro.

[F1 Fanatic - The Formula 1 Blog] Any sympathy for McLaren? | F1 Fanatic - The Formula 1 Blog | F1 ...: The point is more that McLaren have been managing the qualifying sessions better than anyone else, to the point where they are able to offer one of their drivers a slight advantage through burning off a little extra fuel (how ridiculous is it that the rules create a situation in which squandering fuel becomes an advantage?). We could say that this micro-management of strategy has not worked in that it causes disputes between the drivers but that is hardly a matter for the FIA to involve themselves in.

[drive blog] drive blog: Audi's fuel-sipper doesn't shout it from the rooftops: But just to stir the pot a touch more Toyota makes a big thing of their Hybrid tech and GM are crowing about the plug in Volt well sorry to say this but the first mass produced mass marketed commercially viable electric vehicles (by mass produced I refer to numbers well into 10's of thousands, & mass market I refer to globally) were somewhere around the late 30's. They were milk floats and delivery vehicles.
