The Upgrade Game
[Travel Tips and Tricks] Have you ever noticed that when you rent a car, assuming that you are renting in a class that leaves room for an upgrade, youll almost always be...
Some slightly related from Technorati and Google.
[HD For Indies] Experience in the Field, Lessons Learned for Shooting/Making HD: On the other hand, HD, in terms of affordable, high resolution digital cinematography suitable for filmmaking, is a pretty new thing, arguably less than 10 years old. I got slagged on this for not defining my terms - the F900 (and Varicam) were the first viably affordable, functional, available cameras for digital cinematography in a commercially viable context as far as I can tell. So THAT kind of HD moviemaking - is pretty new, and still has a lot of room to grow.
[Soulrebel.web-log.nl] Soul-Rebel - web-log.nl: For 3 months I have been reading Maj K's weblog while he does his duty in Iraq. His duty is ( with many others ) to make Iraq a safer place for all that live there.Currently there are allot of brave Iraqies that are willing to risk their lives to make Iraq a safer place. In return Maj K and his unit want to help those people with giving them extra protection so those people can do their job helping Iraq to get rid of terrorists that are killing people that just want to live their lives like we all do.In short he asks you to donate or send stuff so he can help the people that really love their country and want to make the best of it. Do you want to help?

[Steelypips.org] Uncertain Principles: Jim cites the high cost of rentals, and notes that "If you find a vacation site you can legally drive to per Enterprise's terms and conditions, the cost will be equivalent to an extra $40 plus per month, spread over a year." This, of course, assumes that owning an SUV is free. Which it's not-- comparing the EPA mileage statistics for a 4WD Ford Explorer and a Ford Taurus (I choose those cars because they're what I drive), you find an estimated difference in annual fuel costs of $400, which is $33 monthly, awfully close to Jim's estimated cost of renting an SUV for vacation. And that doesn't include any differences in insurance rates or maintenance costs between the two.
[Sethweinstein.com] Seth Weinstein | Odds & Ends | The Blog: Lured, by positive feedback from my Scandinavia trip updates and a subsequent rant about the poor state of long-distance train service in the United States, into a belief that some people appreciate my rather dreary, deceptively droll discourse, and inspired by the exquisite blog of my favorite copy editor, Bill Walsh (who maintains the best copy-editing site on the Web), I hereby dare and deign to devise a blog of my own. I make no promises regarding any degree of quality, lucidity, or pith, but I do estimate that the vast majority of entries will be the result of a deliberation whose duration exceeds that of the elevator ride from my apartment building's lobby to my floor.
[Bittersweetmanics.com] Bittersweet manics: and Txema have begun their big adventure in Argentina where Sarah is completing the final wrap up on a book that she is writing. The Adventure Blog will keep you posted on life below the equator for Sarah and Txema. She will be writing from time to time to let you know of their exploits.
