Funky Cars > That bridge freezing thing
[Various and Sundry] Given those conditions, water on the road might not freeze, and driving conditions are all right. But if you come across a bridge, the road running across it might be icy. So if you’re driving at normal speeds and then unexepectedly hit an ice patch, you’re likely to lose control of your car.

[New Zealand Trip Advisor] Scenic New Zealand - an Eden on earth: Apart from all the yachts and boats, there's a load of stuff to see and do in Auckland and we could have stayed there for much, much longer. In a short time, we managed to travel on the famous harbour bridge and visit the South African Kaffee in Browns Bay (it stocks goodies for homesick South Africans). We also checked out Ponsonby, which is Auckland's "pink" suburb, and delightful Devonport where some of the big money lives.
[ .: SixDifferentWays: and there's nowhere else in the world i'd rather be :.] You would think by now I'd realise to never, ever break one of my own rules. The last time I...: Now of course the Socialist IKEA parking system does not make that easy. They herd you out the back way, and I am soon somehow heading towards downtown Oakland, through the most scary-ass neighbourhood I have seen in a long time (and I was just in Bayview a few weeks ago.) Really bad, as in "how many liquor stores can they manage to fit on one block and 'hey that family is living in that burnt out car' " bad. And I'm rollin' in my silver Dodge Durango wondering if silver might denote the wrong gang colours and thinking I could turn down the wrong street and get a cap popped in my dome and that would be the end of my happy white-boy IKEA life. But finally I do find my way back around to the bridge and I really really mean it this time, I'm never shopping at IKEA again.

[Pkmeco.com] The Old Goat Trail: You can practically take the whole family out for a free lunch there. But I am afflicted with this strange politeness that forces me, at every single sample table, to pretend that I'm interested in the product. So, while I'm scarfing down a chicken enchilada nugget or a mini pizza bagel, I always study the product packaging, ask where it's located, comment on the taste and texture, and even compliment the cook! And then the server and I exchange knowing glances - that he knows I'm not going to buy it, and that I know he knows that I'm just there for the free lunch, but still I play the game and pretend I'm headed off to the shelf where the item is located to stock up on a month's worth of the stuff.

[Basilsblog.net] basil's blog: Bridges Part II: It was a strange dream and it just reinforced my distrust of bridges. When I'm driving today and encounter a large bridge or a really high bridge, I still think about that dream. I am fully aware of how silly something like that is, but I still get a queasy feeling every time I wind up going across a tall or long bridge.
[Joshwoodward.com] Josh Woodward - Findlay, Ohio Singer/Songwriter: Drums were done as usual, with the overheads a little closer. I gave some multiband compression to smack down the muddiness of the toms on the bridge. I always have that trouble. Oh, and the toms were just through overheads, I didn't bother hooking up the mics for those.
