Funky Cars > Kickboxer - Subaru WRX Powered Motorcycle Concept

[The Kneeslider] It’s radical, to be sure, but no more so than, say, building a motorcycle around a radial engine or any of the other motorcycle and engine combinations we’ve seen here. But, beyond the concept itself, I really like the fact that Ian decided to jump in and learn the software so he could show everyone what was on his mind and clarify his ideas to see if they would work.

[Autoblog] Rendered for Your Pleasure: Subaru WRX-powered Kickboxer ...: According to The Kneeslider, Ian McElroy taught himself Solidworks just so he could create the KickBoxer motorcycle concept, which marries the aforementioned liquid-cooled boxer engine from Subaru to a futuristic motorcycle chassis that features single-sided swingarms front and rear along with hub-center steering.

[BikerzBay.com - Motorcycle News, Reviews, Videos] Kickboxer Subaru WRX Powered Motorcycle Concept - BikerzBay.com News: What you see above is the work of one Ian McElroy.  It's a render, done in SolidWorks, of a concept motorcycle that has a Subaru WRX motor at its core. With twin-intercoolers, underseat turbocharger, and a hub-steering chassis, the KickBoxer, as McElroy calls it, is an impressive looking machine, but what's most impressive is that Ian didn't know a lick of SolidWorks before he set out to make this design.

[Motorcycle Journal] Concept: Subaru WRX Powered “KickBoxer” | Motorcycle Journal: We’ve seen a fair number of motorcycles powered by mighty engines like the V8, but the Kickboxer concept stands out simply because of the work put in by Ian McElroy for creating these renderings. As you may have already guessed, the motorcycle is built around the powerful engine of the Subaru

[MPB Moto] Category News | Kickboxer concept gets Subaru WRX power: ”˜Kickboxer’ is a rather suggestive name for a concept motorcycle powered by a Subaru WRX engine and that is precisely what caught our attention about this project in the first place. Then, of course, we saw the radical-looking motorcycle behind the bad ass name and started to dig a little deeper into the story only to find that the concept belongs to Ian McElroy, who had it all in his mind for a little while and who then had to learn how to use Solidworks in order to come up with this.

[Auto Mobiles] Auto Mobiles : Blog Archive : Rendered for Your Pleasure: Subaru ...: There's a longstanding tradition of using horizontally-opposed boxer engines in motorcycles - and not just from BMW - the flat configuration has found a home in a slew of two-wheelers ranging from Russia's Ural to the current Honda Goldwing. So, it's not too much of a stretch to wonder how Subaru's well-known flat-four engine would work in a bike.

[Leisure Toy Reviews] Kickboxer - Subaru WRX Powered Motorcycle Concept | Leisure Toy ...: Suppose you had an engine from a Subaru WRX and suppose further, you wanted to build a motorcycle, what would it look like? Ian McElroy was thinking about just that and started putting his ideas into Solidworks to see what he could do.

[drive blog] drive blog: Cars we wish had never been launched: And i would have to say, yes the GTS does have alot of torque(after a delay- the throttle isnt very responsive for an atmo(drove an auto)) but its reluctance to rev, coupled with its less than satisfactory handling and brakes(inaccurate/vague boat-list like handling & dangerously under braked(fades easily)), when driven hard on winding roads makes it a poor outright sportscar in my books(way to heavy aswell)! Highway/autobahn come family/tow sportscar, yes great!

[drive blog] drive blog: Are hoons really the big safety menace?: You also assume that essentially all cops are corrupt and inncoent people are regularly getting their cars towed for doing nothing wrong. There has been over 1000 confiscations in Victoria, if there was wide spread corruption and abuse of these powers, say even 10%, then that would be 100 people who would be jumping up and down protesting their innocence, that's a lot of people making noise, especially if they contact media.
