[Politics Blog] Ford Bell speaks against “clearing the f... : Bell then challenged Klobuchar to a series of open debates across the state. A representative of the Klobuchar campaign wouldnt give us a yes or no answer about participating in the debates, saying only that Klobuchar and Bell have had several debates and those debates would probably continue.
[Kennedyvmachine.com] Kennedy v. The Machine » Debate Ruminations: Ford Bell is one of the finer candidates this blogger has seen in some time. He is profoundly wrong on nearly every major public policy question, but the strength of his conviction leads me to believe he will be heard from again should he comes up short in this year’s quest for the DFL endorsement. Bell has a magnificent Donald Sutherlandesque presence and a friend and I mused that it would be a treat to have a cocktail with the philanthropist. You would disagree on everything, but you couldn’t help but slap him on the back when the drinking was done and the guns were reholstered. It was clear to me that DFL frontrunner Klobuchar would do well to have as few joint appearances with the veterinarian as possible in the weeks ahead. Bell speaks with the fervor of the converted in contrast to Klobuchar’s somewhat rehearsed and wonkish demeanor. He celebrated Canada’s crumbling single-payer health system and used Communist China as a model for transportation policy. His old-time religion will serve him well in the DFL endorsement process which begins with this Tuesday’s precinct caucuses.
[Minnesota Democrats Exposed] KLOBUCHAR FORCED TO DISCUSS DEBATES: As a prosecutor, Amy's experience working with law enforcement was clear. No other candidate had as strong a grasp on the issues facing our police officers today, and no other candidate presented the real, practical and forward-thinking solutions Amy provided.
[Kennedy v. The Machine] Another Klobuchar Debate Duck: Our show has been incredibly cordial and fair to all candidates that come onto our show. (The latest example from our last show where we had DFL Secretary of State candidate Mark Ritchie on http://www.racetotheright.com/2006-02-05%202a.mp3.)
[Minnesota Democrats Exposed] DFL ACTIVISTS WANT KLOBUCHAR TO PARTICIPATE IN... : When Wetterling, a children's safety activist, dropped out of the race and endorsed Hennepin County Attorney Klobuchar, Bell came out swinging. He charged that Democratic power brokers were engineering Klobuchar's ascent, and drew parallels to Republican leaders, whom Democrats criticized for early and unequivocal backing of U.S. Rep.
[minvolved.com] How to Steal Thunder Without Saying Anything We... : While Minvolved is not going to be officially supporting a DFL Senate candidate until sometime after the primaries, I’d be lying if I said that some of the people behind the scenes haven’t already begun to make up their minds on who they will support (some already have). While I won’t go so far as to pick a side in public today, I am going to tell you that one of the most important factors for me personally, and regardless of any particular candidate, is that we have a rigorously contested nomination process.
[Minnesota Democrats Exposed] MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: CIRESI: "”¦I HAVE A BIAS A... : On the drive home to the Twin Cities area from final campaign stops in Duluth, a giddy discussion broke out among Ciresi and his closest loyalists. Wouldn't it be something, they all agreed, if Ciresi could get a copy of the 1948 Chicago Tribune, the one with the banner headline: Dewey Defeats Truman.
[Dflsenate.com] DFLSenate » Blog Archive » Ford Bell Considering Primary Run: Though, it would depend on the case Ford made, as an unnecessary primary battle in a place like the 5th (not saying it is, Im working in the hypothetical) in an election year like 2006, would pull resources away from more important races. So in a hotly contested race like the 2006 US Senate race, or in some ways like the 2004 Presidential Election, I will work for the endorsed candidate (or at least not work against them), just as I would expect anyone else to do if their candidate lost.
[Minnesota.publicradio.org] MPR: Bell, Klobuchar debate the issues: DFL U.S. Senate candidates Amy Klobuchar and Ford Bell make a joint appearance as part of Midday's Meet the Candidates series. They are both hoping for strong support from the party faithful in Tuesday's precinct caucuses.
