[WildBill's Blogdom] Wow, iPod integration is <3: The only time I need to actually use the iPod's controls is to switch playlists. This is a design compromise - there are two schools of thought on iPod interconnects. The iPod2Car lets you completely utilize the iPod's controls as well as the OEM deck's controls, whereas interconnects like Monster's iCruze limit you to five custom-predefined playlists and totally lock you out of the iPod's controls. I think that the iPod2Car's method is more flexible; if I really want to get lazy I could add an AirClick and have the whole thing be remote-controlled.
[Inluminent.com] inluminent » Blog Archive » The iPod2Car: I told him that I wanted to be able to use my iPod in my car, and that while I had a CD-player and a 6-disc changer, I didn’t have a tape deck, so I couldn’t listen to my iPod in the Accord. I absolutely hate the FM rebroadcasters, as in my opinion, while they all work, the sound quality that comes out of them, combined with the interference I usually pick up using them, makes them a solution that I’m just not interested in using anymore.
[Generic Geek.Com - More Geek, Less Nerd!] Connect your iPod to your Car Factory Radio: Plug the ipod2car adapter into your car stereo changer port (Usualy located in the trunk or behind the radio) using the ipod2car 11.5' (3.5M) cable that plugs directly into your iPod. [Ottmar Liebert] iPod2Car: That seems to ensure that it connects properly. However, it wasn't cheap and I don't know how much money I saved over the Alpine solution as I had to pay the Toyota dealer 80 bucks twice for labor and for the specific Toyota cable, which I think ran another $30. That's in addition to the connector itself, which costs a couple of hundred and brings the total to almost $400. On the other hand, you might be able to save almost half of that if you don't need a Toyota cable and if you are able to install the connector yourself.
[Mikhail Arkhipov (MSFT)'s WebLog] We are 4 years into XXI century but digital music in the car is still nowhere closer.: Alpine interface disables iPod controls since it expects you to control iPod via head unit controls. This would be fine if head unit controls were as good as iPod controls. Unfortunately, head unit UI is very complicated and in search mode it scrolls about one title per second (imagine how long does it take to get to Yes albums). And obviously, head unit display only capable of English.
[Ottmar Liebert] iPod2Car: So far I am not happy with the iPod2Car connector. The output level is much lower than the output of the factory radio or CD player. When the connector was first installed last week, the steering wheel controls were able to switch the stereo from radio to CD player to iPod, and also advance
[Strategize] iPod2Car: I just installed one of the iPod2Car adapters in my GMC truck. Installation was extraordinarily easy -- the kit comes with the correct plug to go into the back of the factory stereo CD changer input, a black box with dip switches to configure for the particular make and model of the vehicle, and an extremely long iPod 3G or 4G adapter cable that both provides audio output to the stereo and power to the iPod. The trick is to ensure that you provide power to the yellow cable that is left hanging out from the harness; the instructions say that this does not need to be done for my vehicle, but it does indeed need to be done for the unit to work.

[Blogs.msdn.com] Mikhail Arkhipov (MSFT)'s WebLog : December 2004 - Posts: I checked out Portable Media Centers, but they all are only 20GB (too small for my lossless music and I already own 20GB iPod). I am not sure why PMCs are limited to 20GB since iPod 30GB was avialble two years ago and 40-60GB disks have been around for quite some time. iRiver announced 40GB PMC but delivery date is not known. iPod Photo is available in 60GB version (and I'd like to have 80 GB or more).
