[Smart Car of America Forums] As you may recall, I was having problems getting my 1/8th mile times below 12.5 seconds at the drag strip. After much research, I decided that the mediocre times were a result of very slow shifting and turbo-lag coming back on the power from full-steam to fully-chopped to full-steam again throttle control.

[The Mile High Report] Denver Broncos Mock Draft Part 23 - Mile High Report: What they'll find is that despite playing on an offense known more for its finesse and trickery, Pouncey is smart, strong and athletic. He'll need to prove he can handle the adjustment to the traditional snap after two seasons at the pivot in Florida's shotgun offense, but scouts don't feel this will be a problem.
[Atlanta Hawks: Fan Nest] The win you were waiting for | Atlanta Hawks: Fan Nest: Really, except for the two guys they drafted (Ilgauskas and James), not one of their pre-2008 free agent moves did much-to-anything to improve the team. Things opened up a lot when they got the revenues from the ‘07 Finals run that legitimized them as a contender and LeBron as Kobe and Duncan’s rival for “best player in the league.”
[GM-VOLT : Chevy Volt Electric Car Site] BREAKING: Production Chevy Volt Revealed in FULL!: Why did GM have to spend millions of dollars to design and build a tiny 3-cylinder engine when there are literally dozens of 2-cyl and 4-cyl engines already available that could have served the purpose with equal or better economy and power? Why did they have to go to such extremes as to design an all-new transmission system when plugging a simple, off-the-shelf, already efficient electric motor into the transmission bell housing to replace the gasoline engine would have worked just as well?
The Big Picture: On the opposite side of the honesty fence, here are my two favorite commentors on the subject of inflation and/or OER. These are people who have been in front of much of the crowd on these subjects, and deserve to be singled out as credible and intelligent.
[Hot Air » Top Picks] Hot Air » Blog Archive » Stop wasting your money in Vegas, says Obama: The only time I was there a couple of years ago there was nothing about the place that suggested it was some kind of bourgeois hangout. It was just me and about a hundred thousand other schleps out taking in the glorious gaudiness celebrating America.
[The Rates Blog] Top 10 at 10 past 10: Greek debt - Blogging On Interest Rates ...: Iain P: “Steven, you are kidding me right” Yes and no….as long as the ponzi scheme stays somewhat upright mom and pop’s dont lose much maybe gain a little, certainly the returns from unit trusts/pension funds are mediocre at best…..however if it goes pear shape then the pension funds which means mom and pop’s get left high and dry…………so I think we actually agree.
[The Baseline Scenario] Do Smart, Hard-Working People Deserve to Make More Money? « The ...: How can you be said to deserve greater rewards and opportunities because of your greater talents and ability (including the willingness to work hard), if there’s nothing special about you that makes you deserving of those greater talents and abilities? What justifies greater rewards and opportunities for the more talented is only the way it can work in a socio-economic scheme which makes it possible for everyone, especially the least advantaged, to enjoy the most opportunities for a good life they could possibly have (what Rawls calls “the difference principle”).

[Braid] Braid » Blog Archive » Braid is the highest-rated XBLA game ever ...: Don’t get me wrong, Braid is an awesome game, and probably worth every one of the 1200 points, but by differentiating himself away from the pack of other good games which cost 800 points, I think is a risk - I wonder just how much more Mr Blow would have made if he priced it in line with the accepted price point. Like he said “It’s just economy of scale…”
[SamSederShow.com - unbought, unbossed] He does goats | SamSederShow.com: Republicans, I should note, are being baldly hypocritical in calling for Rangel, who has spent four decades in the House, to step down immediately as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee -- a position that makes him one of the most powerful men in Washington. Those same Republicans were happy to keep "Dancing With the Stars" dropout Tom DeLay as majority leader for years while he was under a monsoon's worth of ethical cloud cover.
[BBC - Football blog] BBC - Robbo Robson: Barca bask in total footy glow: Seeing as Total Football had a briefish spell with Ajax and Holland in the 70s and has seldom been used since in any country with any measure of success it seems a bit moot to dedicate half a blog to the fact it isnt used in Britain. Britain doesnt use "Catenaccio" either - will there be a piece on that next week?
[The Rates Blog] Top 10 at 10: Key eyes tax reform - Blogging On Interest Rates ...: In retrospect, the executive compensation caps inserted by Congress into the stimulus bill back in February are having a perverse effect. Because the caps applied only to financial institutions that took TARP money ” and they applied much more heavily to institutions that received “exceptional assistance,” like Citigroup and Bank of America ” it tilted the paying field even more heavily against them.
[drive blog] drive blog: dCOTY Best Large Car: Aurion, but it's not the best drive: Mathew ur right for it to have a chance it would have to be cheaper alot cheaper but since the normal aurion sports is $42 n a bit thous thta would suggest that the supercharger n bigger wheels etc would have to be a 4-6 thousand $$ premium so that will be 46-48000 $$ which makes it quite dearer than the XR6 Turbo, XR8 and SS, sure the the aurion has leather and curtain air bags as standard but a the leather, curtain airbags fixes that and brings the price just about even too so what advantage would it have then?? hmm none well exepct tha it will be the onli 1 on the block (if not state)but it just wont win the bang for bucks it will fail to capture the hearts and minds of the fast driving guys n gals lets face it in aust wen it cumes to going fast in a 5 door sedan ur either a Xr6 turbo ,XR8, FPV GT (GT-P), typhoon ,SS,SS-V, clubsort R8 or GTS driver not a aurion supercharged diver well sept mayb the 100 they'll sell, But good luch to toyo with it cause ur going to need it i just hope i get to meet 1 at the lights one day not that its a fair fite but ya know s#*t happns :P
[Comments for I, Cringely] I, Cringely » Blog Archive » Game Boys - Cringely on technology: I’ll just conclude by saying that many people, myself included, find more FUN in any number of dinky flash and iphone games than in the latest mega-budget 3D monster that’s either last year’s game redone on this year’s game engine, or requires 30 hours a week just to learn. Just like a lot of people find more enjoyment (and even edification) from short Youtube videos on any of a gazillion topics than the latest formulaic Hollywood mega-release in one of Hollywood’s 5 movie templates.
