[GM fastlane] Why Not Bankruptcy? | GM FastLane: This is sort of what GEICO does, with several well known ad styles (cave men, gecko, money with eyes…) I would suggest: sexy (show GM styling studios and history, and lots of pretty pictures), informative (have a documentary type style that shows your research, awards, environmental initiatives, etc.), patriotic (where GM’s role in various points in American history are highlighted), price-oriented (show deals and emphasize monthly payments), and competition-oriented (showing where GM cars give an advantage over key competitors.) I realize ad budgets are being trimmed, but you still need to address the fact that GM advertising for too many years has essentially failed utterly to drive sales. Fine tune your messages, always focus on how to reach particular customers and get them in the showroom, and make the style and voiceovers sound “trustable”, not slick.

[GM-VOLT : Chevy Volt Electric Car Site] Chevy Volt Still Expected to Get 50 mpg In ICE Mode ... - GM-Volt: Navistar would “purchase certain assets, intellectual property rights to manufacture GMC and Chevrolet brand vehicles in the class 4-8 gross vehicle weight range and distribution rights for GM’s medium-duty truck unit.” This would not only give GM a bunch of cash, but also let them cease production from it’s plant in Flint, Michigan, and transfer all the related nonsesene to a Navistar facility.

[GM fastlane] Working Hard on Tomorrow, Today | GM FastLane: The Beat and cars like that should be here right now.GM has been behind for so long, its time to get ahead or even at least.Other car lines can make fuel efficient vehicles,so can GM.I would really prefer not lose my job because the place closes due to poor sales.Forget the trucks, forget the crossovers, start being competitive and give us something to sell.Maibus are great,HHRS are as well.I drive a 2007 HHR…..speaking of why are there virtually no commercials or advertisements for this car??? The press and all media is killing you guys. They seem to favor everyone but GM.All you hear is Toyota and Honda but they never mention that they have gas guzzling suv’s also. The Impala gets better mileage than a Camry, yet thats not talked about. You need some heavy marketing and some new models a.s.a.p.

I understand that high performance cars are often small volume losers for large automakers, more about halo and marketing than profits, so I’m willing to let that idea go if it means making the Volt a mainstream winner and GM viable.

Investors who are banking on a sweeping change in the auto industry in 2011 thanks to electric vehicles from other (and mainstream) names have a much longer and much less fruitful road ahead of them.

[Digital Culture & Education] Talking past each other: Academic and media framing of literacy: Kosicki, 2001) grounds to make the argument that framing is an essential part of public deliberation.  In the context of literacy this becomes particularly relevant, as the frame one adopts will subsequently guide a range of important decisions. Different views of the skills and important issues around literacy can affect educational policy-making, preferred modes of teaching and learning, school curriculum content and parenting values.

[The skeptvet Blog] Cold Laser Therapy: Overall, then, the theoretical foundations for low power laser therapy range from questionable to completely nonsensical pseudoscience. [The Amazing World of Psychiatry: A Psychiatry Blog] News Round-Up 2009: Neurosonology has been proposed as a useful measure for investigating dementia (Demarin et al, 2009).The relationship between the blood-brain barrier and cognitive decline has been examined in a review paper in which a causal link is proposed (Popescu et al, 2009).  In a systematic review of the use of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids there was found to be no reduction in progression of dementia although other studies have shown a reduction in cognitive decline in elderly people without dementia (Fotuhi et al, 2009).  The authors of a Cochrane review found inconsistent evidence for clinical effects of Gingko Biloba in cognitive impairment and dementia (Birks et al, 2009). Although performance on tests wasn’t impaired by drinking caffeine containing drinks (ccd’s) there was found to be a linearly decreasing performance with an increase in age in those consuming ccd’s before the test and the authors caution that ccd’s should be considered when interpreting test scores (Lesk et al, 2009).  A combination of folate and B12 deficiency was found to increase apoptosis and intracellular homocysteine to a greater extent than either alone in this in vitro study (Kifle et al, 2009).
