[Roadtrippin’] Building our Teardrop: Two middle-aged women with the typical middle-aged spread taking a fast trip around the country in their Ford Explorer Sport Trac. This truck has a fullsize cab and with the back seats folded down, a couple camping air mattresses and sleeping bags, a nice sleeping pallet is created. Problem is, this is too short for our 5 ft + frames. Oh sure, one person could be darn near comfortable sleeping on their side or even their back.

The plant will prepare for the revised 2006 Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer and does not want to add a third new model to further complex the assembly line. The 2007 Sport Trac, which will look much like the 2005 concepts, will begin production in early 2006. Ford believes they have enough supplies of the current Sport Trac so dealers won’t see a shortage in the lag time.
