Autoblog.com[Autoblog.com] Chevy Aveo endures AW Drivers Log hatchet job - Autoblog - www ...: One editor doesn’t see the vehicle as a “real” car, with a weak engine, sub par interior with uncomfortable seats and the thinnest of body panels that were deformed in a car wash. Another editor would rather drop Aveo money on a used Toyota Corolla and views the Chevy purely as an appliance. The third editor then comes in accuses the other two of being car snobs because he feels the Aveo plays the role Chevy wants it to play: basic transportation, nothing less and nothing more. Despite the wildly different opinions, it’s always refreshing to see some unchecked honesty instead of just the neutral statement of lifeless facts.

Autoblog.com[Autoblog.com] Chevy hopes Aveo will make little cars big again - Autoblog - www ...: The tiny hatch is essentially a Daewoo that has been prettied-up by ItalDesign, the same firm responsible for the sharp looks of Maserati and the Volkswagen Golf. While the base Aveo is available at an attractive sub-$10K price point, Phelan drives the nicely-sorted LS model that runs $12,670, including ABS, a decent stereo with a CD player and some rear spoiler action out back. The large-feeling interior is composed of nondescript materials designed to keep costs down, but the right details are there, like an excellent seating position and rear seats that split and fold for extra utility. The engine is uninspiring at 103-hp, but it gets the job done and is aided by the Aveo’s low curb weight.

Autoblog.com[Autoblog.com] Someone else likes the Chevy Aveo - Autoblog - www.autoblog.com _: I thought I was the only automotive journalist enamored by the small Chevrolet Aveo. Almost every review I’ve read since testing it myself has bashed the nifty little wind-up Daewoo rebadged with a bow tie. That’s why Edmunds flattering review is so welcome.

Autoblog.com[Autoblog.com] DaimlerChrysler eying China plant for export - Autoblog - www ...: Citing labor costs as an advantage, DaimlerChrysler is mulling over plans to build small B segment vehicles in China for export to overseas markets including the U.S. DC said that a decision would be made in the second half of the year. This week GM showed the new Chevy Aveo which would be built in China for export. Bob Lutz summed it up, “Anybody who wants entry into this low end of the market finds it can no longer be done in the U.S., it has to be done in a low-cost country.” The labor rate in China is about $2 an hour, who can compete? The 2006 Chevy Aveo is shown.
