[chrysler weblog] Chrysler Chief Executive Dieter Zetsche told a German newspaper he intends to price the Dodge Caliber below the VW Golf in order to compete in the global auto market. Currently the VW sells for between 15-20K.

VW Inks Long-Term Ad Deal With NBC Universal : Jalopnik: Volkswagen signed a long-term, $200 million promotional deal with NBC Universal, propriator of theme parks, movie studios and TV networks including NBC, Bravo, SciFi and USA. The deal will guarantee VW opportunities to place its products in Universal’s movies, TV shows and DVD releases, as well as promote them at Universal’s theme parks. No word yet on rumors of projects in the works, including a movie, “Dieter the Love Toureg”; TV show, “Two and a Half Jettas” and a Universal Orlando ride, “Phaeton Sales Incentives Adventure®.”
Detroit vs. The World: May 2005: Wife made an interesting observation while watching one of VWs latest TV ads last night. She commented that VW ads were so good, and received such critical acclaim, primarily because they were targeted towards”¦ad agency employees. Think about it: Young, hip, creative types with decent incomes are VWs bread and butter. So all VWs ad agency has to do is create advertising that appeals to its own employees (who are the ones making the ad in the first place) and they have a winner.

It had a move-forward bed that increased its length by moving into territory occupied by the cab's rear seat, and its spare was mounted on the bed's side--the way they were in the first postwar Jeep pickups. The top can be opened, allowng occupants to enjoy the great outdoors completely, and a GPS navigation system lets you venture into the real back country without fear. All in all, a capable, good-looking vehicle that the company should build.
Dodge Caliber concept hints at new small cars - 02/11/05: Analyst George Magliano of New York's Global Insight in New York, said the Neon replacement should land in U.S. dealerships by early next year. He projects annual sales of up to 100,000 -- in line with the Neon demand last year.
