[The Diecast Dude's (Mostly) NASCAR Blah Blah Blog] The Pope And NASCAR: It would be nice if those who cover NASCAR would, in addition to carrying out their job in a professional manner, remember that they are the fan's window to the sport. While the sports blogosphere is growing in both its ability to report as well as offer honest opinion, or at least that portion of the blogosphere that is not of the "hey look at me" mindset (which immediately eliminates anyone currently being featured on That's Racin'), it lacks the resources to fully cover any sport. I don't have the luxury of being able to pick up the phone and give Jeff or Dale or Jimmie or any given team owner or NASCAR official a call in order to get information straight from the source. Maybe someday, but certainly not today, and tomorrow isn't looking so good either. I would like to note that in the extremely slim chance any of the aforementioned are reading this and would like to talk, let me know -- I promise you quality questions and will report your answers accurately. That dream (probably of the pipe variety) aside, all I have to work with is the information at hand, with the overwhelming majority of it coming by default from the mainstream news media. Is it too much for me, and every other NASCAR fan, to ask that said media do their job... and do it responsibly?
