Funky Cars > Chrysler Sales Down 44 Percent, As Kool Aid Flows Like Water | The ...

[The Truth About Cars] Mopar: I have occasionally given Chrysler the benefit of a doubt because of hearing of the new cars that are supposedly in the pipeline, but since Chrysler has been a smoke and mirrors show since Cerberus took them over, I don’t have any reason to believe that Chrysler is cooking up a game changer that is going to save their ass this time. Especially considering that Daimler gutted just about all of their engineering resources.

[Leftlane - news, reviews, and info for the auto-industry] Chrysler drags down Daimler’s Q4 results: Dont worry about it, AnonymousCoward - the European Banking System is going to take it in the shorts and this time it’s all their own fault. They heavily invested european savings into loans to east europe and asian growth economies for houses and business that were radically overpriced and overvalued, and now those sham valuations are going to slam European banks with their inability to service the loans (kinda like a homegrown european mortgage crisis, only worse since the assets are in crapholes around the world).

[Comments for chrysler weblog] chrysler weblog » Blog Archive » Bloomberg speculates on Cerberus ...: And my hope, as distinugished from my realistic expectation , is that the Fed lowers interest rates substantially, the economy makes a quick recovery or at least a soft landing, Challenger draws crowds into dealerships and that gives rise to Journey,minivans and Wrangler Unlimited really taking - off in sales. After that rosy scendairo, let’s hope that next Ram at least holds its own in a declining market for big trucks and the company can muddle through wtih that $3.8 billion set aside for new products until LY hits the market with the the new power trains and hybrids get the cash flowing again.

[Autoblog] Daimler posts $1.95 billion fourth-quarter loss - Autoblog: A big portion of Daimler's loss came courtesy of Chrysler, as the German automaker's 19.9% stake resulted in $1.4 billion in losses. Daimler is looking to unload it's share of Chrysler, but at this point will likely have to pay a massive premium to take the Auburn Hills, MI-based automaker off its books.

[worldcarfans] Chrysler Viability Plan Also Mentions New Charger, Durango and ...: This is a huge surprise from the company, since the Durango was believed to be dead-in-the-water when Chrysler announced it was closing the Newark Assembly facility in Delaware where the SUV is built. New Durango purchasers are buying a SUV built on the platform used for the Dodge Ram pickup truck.

[AutoblogGreen] No surprise: Nissan-built small Chrysler model in trouble: There was nothing wrong with cheaping out and licensing the Hyundai-designed engine especially considering the rather agricultural attributes of those Chrysler 4s you mention. Both Hyundai/Kia and Mitsubishi have gotten great results out of the World Engine platform so what was Chrysler's excuse?

[The New Republic TOC] The Grade on Detroit's Bailout Proposals: Incomplete - The Plank:  If Detroit was forced by the gov't to make small cars when no one buys them, while the Asian competitors build big vehicles (Nissan Armada anyone?), they're doomed.  I'd rather have Bob Lutz, the car guy's car guy, deciding product strategy than some MBA with only a finance background (aka Geithner/Summers).

[Steve Parker, Motoring Journalist] Steve Parker, Motoring Journalist: GM, CHRYSLER WANT BILLIONS MORE!: GM says its Saturn division, Roger Smith's $10 billion (minimum) tribute to automotive mediocrity, will be killed, Pontiac as a division is probably history, though the name may remain on one or two models sold in other dealerships, Saab will probably be reorganized in some sort of bankruptcy (it's already being spun-off as a separate company), Hummer may be bought by a Chinese company (as we predicted here months ago) and Chevrolet, Buick Cadillac and GMC will be the company's core sales channels;

[CanadianDriver] CanadianDriver » Chrysler » Used Vehicle Review: Dodge Caravan ...: For years, no other minivan came close to being all things to families like the Chrysler minis were, but that’s changing. Competitors like the Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey and even Koreans like the Kia Sedona and Hyundai Entourage now offer most of the same stuff the Chrysler-built vans have, but they have it wrapped in, generally-speaking, more reliable packaging.

They thought the Sprinter would outsell the Ram van (not even close by an extremely large margin) Furthermore, they DID NOT intend the Sprinter to be a NICHE vehicle…thats what they say now because Dailmer was shocked it did not sell in America…,We followed this carefully as we buy or used to buy Dodge vans for our company..not anymore….The Sprinter was not intended to be a niche vehicle,they also make Sprinter vans as personal passenger vans,van conversions as well.Nobody wants them.
