Funky Cars > Cherokee Problems Still
[Mikes Blog] About a year ago, while wheeling at Paragon Adventure Park, I bent up my exhaust pretty good, had my check engine light come on and stay on, and randomly have an extremely rough idle complete with a surging after almost stalling. Now since I got back I checked the engine codes to see what was causing the check engine light. It claimed that my O2 sensors were bad.

[Tree Speaker] OBD Bluetooth Transmitter: Now you can access your vehicle's electronic sensor and fault code data without a cable. Mopar Minivan Homeworld - Check Engine Light: The computer is constantly monitoring the engine, transmission, vehicle speed, air flow, fuel flow and many other parameters while the vehicle is in operation. If a sensor fails, or a parameter falls out of specification, then an error code is set in the computer, and the CHECK ENGINE light will come on. For example, the oxygen sensor (O2 sensor) usually starts to fail from 60,000-90,000 miles. When it does, the check engine light will come on and a code 21 will be set.
GBMINI (MINI Cooper) weblog: Service Engine Soon (again!): From what I've heard, MINI engineers are looking into the problem. It doesn't seem that there's anything actually going wrong with the engine except for throwing the check engine light. That's probably not too much comfort but this is not an isolated problem. I'm sure the MINI engineers will have a software fix soon.

Diffuse Shadows: File this one under mostly for my own reference, but here's a bit ofbackground in case you're interested: I have, as I blogged aboutearlier, installed an after-market header on my car. This headereliminates the stock manifold, which includes a close-coupled catalyticconverter. This isn't a big problem, as the system still has theprimary cat in the exhaust system, but it does post a minor annoyance inthat, as an OBD-IIcar, I have two oxygen sensors -- one before the pre-cat, and one afterit.
