[Smart Car of America Forums] Tpms mia......... - Smart Car of America Forums: I put 8 ball valve stem caps on the wifes 09 passion the end of last summer.She took it in today for its first scheduled maintenance and they saw the caps and said they would not touch them because they corrode to the stem and were 250.00 to replace if they broke..well they broke..luckily not at the dealer though..I got home from work and the wife was at her car with a flat and the valve stem core in her hand.I wasn't happy and she was pissed.Well what the dealer DIDN'T say is that the valve and sensor are 2 separate pieces.All you need to replace is the valve which snaps onto the sensor the sensor being in the tire..cost...3.00 a piece at the tire rack..althought my kid is going up to autozone first to see if they have it..they carry them for GM's with this sensor.Right now we put in a standard rubber valve..My kid said a buddy put in a rubber stem and just duct tapped the sensor in the wheel..but the wife wants it right..and she's letting me knoow its all due to my 8 ball valve caps.
