[Jeff's Daily Intelligencer] Car Stuff, Nebulous Rumors, And The Like...: The most likely scenario, and the one that has me on the edge of my seat, is that Challenger will be a rear-wheel drive coupe based off of a shortened version of DCX's LX platform (Magnum, 300, Charger). What that would mean would be a car similar in size to (probably a little bigger than) the new Mustang, with the engine options of the other LX cars, available in coupe and convertible formats. In short, it would be the hottest mainstream car to hit the street out of Detroit in a long time.
[Cars! Cars! Cars!] Notes from the 2005 NY Auto Show: Ford, let the Five Hundred be your big car for a while... Dodge is gonna suck up a lot of cop sales with the Charger (if Dodge prices it correctly) and the Avalon is gonna take the other folks who want a bigger car. Ford is killing the Taurus and replacing it the Fusion so we have some more hope for Ford.
[Smalltalk Tidbits, Industry Rants] Panel discussion on PR and blogs: Heh - good questions - do corporations actually engage in conversations based on this, or do they just pay lip service? Bonita makes the point that corporations will find out quickly that they can't treat this strictly as classic marketing push, and you'll pay a price for doing so. I'd agree with this - going back to what Scoble said earlier, you'll get a conversation either way - it all depends on whether you want to engage or not.

Swift Weblog -: “ With modern coupe styling, rear-wheel drive, four-door functionality and a HEMI packed under the hood, the all-new 2006 Dodge Charger is bold, powerful and capable,” said Darryl Jackson, Vice President – Dodge Marketing. “Similar to HEMI, the Charger name is powerful and draws from the Dodge brand’s proud performance heritage. We have a tremendous amount of equity and name recognition for both of these entities. Combined, today’s all-new Dodge Charger and HEMI engine effectively mark the return of modern American muscle,” said Jackson.
Swift Weblog -: • Dodge cars remained “dependable” and, by extension, practical into the 1950s when American affluence made “practical” obsolete in the U.S. market. Virgil Exner revamped Dodge’s fusty styling for 1954 and Dodge’s version of Chrysler’s HEMI V-8—dubbed the “Red Ram”—also became available. Dodge’s suddenly sporty image led to its first Indianapolis 500 pace car. Soon Dodge was selling its own version of the Chrysler 300, the D-500.

Detroit Auto Show: Dodge Charger - Autoblog - www.autoblog.com _: My largest complaint is that I wish the front end was a wee bit longer. I also with the grill (half or all) and the lights matched up together better (while still keeping the 4-pane style indicative of a Dodge vehicle, not unlike the 1970 Dodge Charger). In addition, other than keeping the light pattern of the Intrepid, I would also prefer the elongated pattern of the 1969 Charger. (I'm not going to touch the issue of the doors and hood.) Of course, since my dreams of an ideal Charger R/T (not Charger 500) stop at 1969 (with a Hemi Orange body and pushbar), I'm kind of biased.
