[thoughts of the driver] Yesterday I get a call from the Ford dealership in iceland, saying they’ve got the hose I needed for my car. I gleefully drive my girlfriends “sans rear suspension subaru” up there to pick it up, it costs me a whopping 8700 ISK ($133 USD, or 72 GBP) — I wish I had a picture of the hose, but I think that’s a lot.

[thoughts of the driver] Car woes: Couldn’t fix my idle problems, even after three visits, they ended up putting the wrong kind of spark plugs in it (the same heat range and gap as the 1.6L models use), and they charged me a lot for some “work” and “parts”, which didn’t make a damned difference. Actually I thank them for their incompetence, it has pushed me towards learning a thing or two about cars, especially mine. Well, back to the point, when they call me on a thursday afternoon asking about a crucial detail on the part I need for my car, and I’ve previously been informed that the part should arrive on friday… this friday — I find it a bit strange that they’re still working out crucial details if the part should arrive from overseas the next day?!
[thoughts of the driver] Doing without: This particular hose needs to handle the pressure of the clutch/brake fluid, and it’s rather specialised, so I needed to order a new one from ford — which allegedly will arrive tomorrow. We’ll see about that. The icelandic ford dealership hasn’t exactly, stood up to my expectations… to put it mildly.

Darren, cars, and stuff.: July 2003 Archives: BUT, when you're watching this movie ask yourself one question. "if I were a theater owner/manager woudl I show this in my theater" It seems like the reason for the movie is to show us how far our society has regressed into the "days of Noah and Lot" BUT if this is true (which I believe it is) First, what exactly are the "days of noah" and what are the inplications of this?
Politics in the Zeroes. May 16-31, 2002: California. Ready for a weird one? "In one of the more bizarre ideas for solving Southern California's never-ending water problems, an Alaskan businessman is proposing to tow giant plastic bags full of Northern California water down the coast from Gualala to San Diego." A businessman, we hasten to add, who served under James Watt when he was Sec. of the Interior for Reagan. Those who remember Watt will need no further explanation; for those who don't, think Dick Cheney as Sec. of the Interior.
New Car Pictures/Maintenance Tips: January 2005: Knowing dealers cost is not going to make an idiot out of the dealer. He can't keep that fancy dealership going with $50.00 per vehicle. You have to get real about that. On the other hand, after you have the all of the facts, $50.00 over "invoice" may be too much.
