[Auto Review] During World War II, both Ford and Willys continued to build the Jeeps each producing over 300,000 units for the Army, but toward the end of the war, Willys began to manufacture a civilian model, the CJ-2 also known as the Agrijeep. While there were just over two dozen Agrijeeps made, it marked the beginning of a new era for the vehicle.

[The Contract License Site] Then Came The CJ - The First Civilian Jeep: The first higher hood Jeep, the CJ-3B, was essentially a CJ-3A with the taller F-head engine fitted and a higher hood to give it the needed clearance for the motor. It appears that it was originally intended as an interim model, but it stayed in production from 1953 up through 1968, and was offered as a short wheelbase option.
