[Gamma Squad] The Parajet SkyCar in “fly mode” is suspended by the latest ram-air wing and capable of take-off from a field or airstrip in less than 200 metres. It will be easier and safer to fly than any other aircraft, as it has no pitch control and therefore impossible to stall or dive.

Now Parajet International has struck a deal with Rage Motorsport Ltd to produce a road-legal version of the Skycar, which the two companies say will be on the road (and in the sky) by 2010.
[TFOT - The Future Of Things] sQuba - Who Said Cars Can't Dive?: The Swiss Company Rinspeed has developed a new concept car called "sQuba", which is the world's first 'green' diving car. This innovative car is capable of driving on roads just like a normal car, yet it can also be turned into an amphibious vehicle capable of diving, reaching depths of up to 10 meters (33 feet).
[Bad Astronomy Blog] Golf War | Bad Astronomy | Discover Magazine: Yes, suitsat had a more controlled launch, however the golf ball should be able to be launched away from the station faster than the suitsat was pushed. Now, since they’re launcing off the back of the station (away from the direction of travel), the golf ball will actually be going slower than the station, which will cause the ball to slip into a lower orbit and pass the station.
[Dark Roasted Blend] Dark Roasted Blend: Amazing Submarine Concepts: While it is true that the situation with anonimity was similar in other parts of history (we know of Alexander but rarely talk about his generals or let alone cooks) the situation in art is different because, for example, the impressionist really could do the whole apinting themselves so I'm not trying to find a cheap way out by relativizing everything, but rather show how the nature and role of art disciplines has changed considerably and so much that measuring "availability" as "can I buy a tube in the shop" doesn't work. The situation becomes even more shaky for your arguments if you try to apply the same principle in sculpture etc.
[Reason Magazine - All Reason Articles from the Past Year: Page 1] Are You Better off Than You Were 40 Years Ago? - Reason Magazine: I had a completelyun-safe treehouse I broke my arm jumping off of once, I shot BBguns, I didn't wear a helmet when I rode a bike, there was a verytall high dive at my local swimming pool. I don't know when thisstuff about kids being shielded from everything started, but Idon't remember it.
[ReBurbia] AIRBIA: A Suburban Airship « ReBurbia: The proposed network bases its flexibility on the limited required infrastructure (just overground platforms) and facilities, easy hovering, landing and passenger access. The target is to develop a set of routes covering nodal points of the suburbia, travelling all the way to the borders of the city centre creating a ring around it.
[New Scientist - From the Publisher] New Scientist - From the Publisher: Emdrive on trial - New Scientist: Even setting up a chamber of several meters cubed would still give change from a few thousand pounds, and I haven't heard anything here to suggest the experiment wouldn't be scaleable to a smaller size. I am looking for a research project at the moment, and as the article in new scientist has caused almost as much debate amongst our researchers as it has caused on this blog (sorry Simon) I'm sure I could find a supervisor.
[Dark Roasted Blend] Dark Roasted Blend: Future Tech Review, Part 2: In early 2001 I was designing a computer simulation of a tensegrity model where you could build a structure and test it's strength, and one of the ideas was to test the strength of the model by flying aeroplanes of varying sizes into it (inspired by a game called BridgeBuilder where you test the strength of a bridge by driving a train across it). On the splash screen of this game would have been an illustration of the B-25 bomber that crashed in to the Empire State Building in 1945.
