[Leftlane - news, reviews, and info for the auto-industry] So far Ford has been one step ahead of the pack, Toyota also announced that they will be cutting production bad of up to 1 million vehicles world wide. Not surprising that today Toyota announced that the NUMMI plant in California is be shutting down in March of 2011.

[Wheels] When I am in my buddy’s SUV (or his wifes Expedition), I feel extremely safe: looking down upon all these little cars and bikes makes me feel powerful and dominating - - and safe. As much as we might wish for parity (in weight, bumper height, etc), the fact is that being surrounded by 7000 pounds of steel and aluminum gives SUV owners a decided advantage over its smaller cousins on the road.

2010 Volkswagen Golf TDI Priced From $21990, hits 40 mpg - The Car ...

[The Car Connection - Blogs and News] Both cars come standard with a range of equipment above the typical Golf's feature list, including leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium touch-screen sound system, a lower 'sport' suspension setup, 17-inch alloy wheels and more safety-related acronyms than you can shake a stick at.But the big news may be the 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway rating of the new TDIs - the same for both two-door and four-door models. According to the government's official site, that's within 3 mpg of the 2010 Honda Insight on the highway, though without the aid of electronic assist, it falls 11 mpg short in city rating.And according to that same government site, the Golf TDI is actually capable of a 30/42 mpg rating when equpped with the optional DSG gearbox, narrowing the gap a bit further.
